Sunday’s Shiny Tigress

Here’s what I wore to kick off TED Palm Springs Week’s Worth of Undies Project. I loved wearing this gold sequin skirt because so many wonderful people stopped me to comment on it!

For the TEDYou Talk I gave, I paired each day’s outfit with an important life lesson I wouldn’t have learned if not for this crazy nothing-new adventure I’ve embarked on. So here goes the first…

Nothing-New Insight #1
You do NOT have to spend a lot to look great. You can always look amazing for under $100, and you can almost always look amazing for under $50. At $55, this was my most expensive outfit of the week.

  • red jacket - $12 Palm Desert Revivals Thrift
  • red disk necklace - $2 Cathedral City Angel View Thrift
  • yellow and black blouse - $8 Palm Springs Angel View Thrift
  • sequin skirt - $10 Palm Desert Angel View Thrift
  • cowboy boots - $19 Moreno Valley Goodwill
  • TOTAL $55 with jacket, $43 without

This skirt has now been promised to a beautiful thirteen-year-old girl, the daughter of TEDActive attendee Hayley Foster. Hayley tells me her daughter has a real eye for putting together outfits and thinks she’ll be able to do something special with this. Exciting!

If you’d like to be the next owner of anything else I’m wearing here, let me know. Remember I can’t return home with ANYTHING, so if I don’t give it away, it’s getting donated to a thrift store in Austin before I leave South by Southwest.

What size are the boots? If they’re Size 8 or 9 I’d love to have ‘em! And i heart long necklaces too, so if nobody else wants it I’ll take that as well.

  2. Lan

    i want that blouse, please!

  3. Jessi Arrington

    Hi Carolyn,

The boots are marked 8 and feel true to size. Let me know if that will work for you. The necklace is yours! Just send me the address where you want them mailed!

  4. Jessi Arrington

    Hi Lan,

The tigress blouse is yours! Just send me the address where you want it mailed (and then send me a pic with you wearing it!).

I think this is one of my favorite tops of all time. Bet you’ll look amazing!

  5. Carolyn Sewell

8 is perfect! I’ll email you my addy now!

  6. Alex

Love it! More, more! Also, I would love to have some article of clothing from your adventures… I am anxious to see the other outfits. AND hear the talk sometime.

  7. Caryn

    Hey Jessi!

Love this idea and such fun undies from previous post. Is the jacket in this post claimed? What size is it and what material? It is super-cute. Good luck with the rest of the week!

Wow, that is the most gorgeous sequin skirt I’ve ever seen! This project is a great idea — can’t wait to see what other ensembles you pulled together once you arrived. I’m jealous that you manage to find such great items. I am always hopeful when I set out on a thrifting expedition, but more often than not I return home empty-handed. Do you have any tips for making the most out of thrift store trips?

Does that coat have a home? :)
